FAQ

Electricity:
Every apartment is provided with an electric-light meter, located just behind the entrance door. A power cut may occur if you overload the system. Please do not use such electrical appliances as the washing machine, boiler, hair dryer or oven at the same time! Electricity can be restarted by pushing the button on the meter, taking care to switch off one of the above mentioned appliances before doing so.

Air Conditioning:
Air conditioning may or may not be included in the rental fee, according to the terms signed in your rental contract. Please do not leave the air conditioning on during your absence or when doors and windows are open.A proper and correct use of electricity is environmentally friendly and helps to conserve energy resources.

Water:
The tap water supplied in Cefalu is drinkable. Water is precious, so please do not leave the tap running unnecessarily and take care to turn off all the taps properly after use. Most of the apartments have two stop taps, generally located in the bathroom and under the basin in the kitchen. Turn them off in case of leaking taps or other damage and get in touch with the householder. If, for any reason, a shortage of water occurs, check carefully that all taps are turned off so as to avoid wasting water or flooding during your absence.

Boiler:
In many apartments you will find an electric boiler for heating the water. Depending on their capacity, it may happen that you run short of hot water. In that case, please just wait about 15 minutes. After that time hot water will be ready for use again.

Bed sofa:
In some apartments you will find bed sofas. You are kindly requested to use them carefully. Please ask the householder for help if you don' t know how to open and use them. Please avoid any misuse which may result in serious damage to people and property.

Rubbish:
If your apartment is situated in the town centre (Centro Storico): please, leave your rubbish outside the front door, everyday from 7:00 to 8:30, except on Sundays. If it is located in the outskirts: take your rubbish to the nearest rubbish bin, everyday from 21:00 to 8:00, except on Sundays.

Gas:
Some apartments are equipped with a centralized gas supply, others with gas cylinders. Please contact the householder when the gas cylinder is empty. A full gas cylinder will be supplied as soon as possible. This service is not available on Saturday afternoons and Sundays.

Outdoor furniture:
Guests are kindly requested to take care of outdoor furniture (chairs, table, lounge chairs and parasols) particularly in case of bad weather. Please lock windows and doors carefully in case of strong winds.

Deposit:
Guests are kindly requested to leave a deposit on arrival. The amount of the deposit is € 100,00 payable in cash or by credit card. The sum will be given back on departure, provided that no damage has occurred during your stay.

Door keys:
Guests are requested to look carefully after the keys received on arrival. Ask the householder in case you need a supplementary key. Please take care not to leave the keys in the internal lock, since it would be impossible to open the door from the outside. You may be asked to pay a fine of €50,00 for any damage that occurred as a result.

Security:
Please keep all electrical appliances, air conditioning, and the gas cylinder turned off during your absence. Do not leave taps running and check that windows and doors are carefully locked. Please do not use electrical appliances with bare feet when the floor is wet. Look after your children when they are playing on balconies or terraces. Mind the staircases; in some apartments in the town centre they are very narrow and steep.

What to do in case of fire:

1) Give the alarm immediately and send everyone away from the area of danger
2) Do not use water to put out a fire on electrical equipment.
3)Turn off all electrical appliances in and around the area of the fire.
4) Turn off ventilation or the air conditioning system. If it is not possible to exit through the door, put a wet towel at the bottom of the door and go out onto a balcony or terrace.
5) Use the fire extinguisher to put out the fire.
6) Try to get the fire under control as much as possible and move all inflammable objects as far away as possible from the fire.
7) Call the fire brigade as soon as possible, if necessary.
8) When the fire is extinguished, please check carefully that there are no other hidden fires.
9) You can turn on all electrical appliances only after checking that no damage has occurred

Cleaning:
On arrival you will find your apartment perfectly clean. It will be cleaned again during the week. You are strongly recommended on your departure not to leave any rubbish in the apartment, and to clean the kitchen and leave the dishes washed. When coming back from the beach, please try not to take sand into the apartment. Sand may obstruct the waste pipes and cause serious damage.

Bed Linen and Towels:
Bed linen and towels will be supplied on arrival and changed during the week. You are recommended to make a proper use of them and not to take them outside the apartment. Fresh bed linen and towels will be supplied when requested; the cost is € 7,00 for any change. For hygienic reasons and out of respect for other guests we remind you that it is absolutely forbidden to lie on beds without linen or sleep on blankets and covers.
